Trans Tasman 2016

A warm up for Age Group Worlds 2017

From 2-10 July, 2016, the Age group Tans Tasman tournament was held at Hobart Aquatic and Leisure Centre. A heartfelt congratulations to New Zealand who took gold in all categories. Hosting this tournament in Hobart provided a rare and fantastic opportunity to trial the venue with an international tournament in preparation for hosting the Age Group World Championships in 2017.

Event organisers are collecting constructive and positive feedback from coaches, players, spectators and volunteers involved in the Trans Tasman tournament. This information will inform the plans for next years championships.

Also trailed during the recent tournament was a love streaming Youtube channel where spectators could watch games on the internet. This channel allowed viewers to stream games live and watch past matches, without charge - making the viewing and spectator process accessible and easy. A crowd funding page to cover the costs involved in filming and uploading is live here. Initiatives such as this are vital for the growth and development of our sport - show your support here.

GOLD GOLD GOLD for AUSTRALIA!

A huge congratulations to all players, coaches, volunteers, referees, managers, physiotherapists and support crew involved in this years UWH World Championships in Stellenbosch, South Africa!

The Elite Women's team finished a competitive tournament in 6th place, with the Masters Men and Women, and Elite Men's team bringing home the Gold.

We look forward to sharing a report with you shortly.

The Age Group Trans Tasman Competition will be held from 2-10 July 2016, at the Hobart Aquatic Centre, Tasmania, Australia.

In 2014 New Zealand hosted a fantastic Tras Tasman tournament in the charming city of Wellington. As the host nation, New Zealand fielded a team in every devision, with two barbarian teams to add diversity and challenge to the mix. Australia hopes to make a similar contribution to the 2016 Trans Tasmans and is aiming to field two teams in each devision.

Selections

A squad of up to 24 players (2 teams) per division will be selected at the Bunbury Nationals in January 2016. Those unable to attend these selections can nominate by post.

The final teams will be named at the 1st training camp.
