Wanted Communications Officer

Underwarter Hockey Australia is looking for a enthusiastic and driven individual to join the committee in the role of Communications Officer.If you play or follow our favorite underwater sport, and have an interest in journalism, social media and public relations, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!

This role is suited to someone with experience in, or an aptitude to learn, the following skills:

  • Website maintenance
  • Writing Media Releases
  • Social Media maintenance and monitoring
  • Liaising with media and responding to enquiries
  • Managing communications in and out of UHA
  • Organising media and promotions around events
  • Promotion of the sport
  • Managing the portrayal of UHA brand

The applicant must should also demonstrate the following:

  • Passion towards the sport underwater hockey
  • Eagerness to learn and develop their communication skills
  • High levels of self motivation
  • Attention to detail
  • Oraginsation and time management skills

Previous Communications Officer, Nina Barry Macaulay, commented on the benefits she has received during her time in the role.

The Underwater Hockey Australia AGM will be held on Saturday 18th June 2016 in Melbourne.

The below Committee positions are up for nomination (all selected at September 2014 AGM):

  • Director
  • Secretary
  • Financial Controller
  • Games Commissioner
  • Junior Development Officer
  • Marketing/Promotions Officer
  • Chief Referee
  • Director of Coaching PLUS;
  • Coaching Admin role

All positions are for a period of 2 years.  The UHA proposes to appoint incoming Director and Secretary now but they formally take responsibility from December 1 2016 – utilizing the next 6 months as a transition period where we complete the restructure. Executive Director Position

We wish to inform everyone that following the resignation of our fabulous UHA Director last month, Rees Quilford (VIC), the Committee has accepted the temporary replacement in Craig MacKenzie (WA), who has offered to fill the role until such time as we fill the position with a member who can commit to a two year term.
